History
The Milwaukee Zoo has been open for over 126 years and counting! What started as a small mammal and bird display in Washington Park has grown to house over 1,200 animals of 348 species on 190 acres of land. The zoo aims to inspire its guests on the importance and understanding of sustainability. They believe that they can support the participation of global conservation efforts by unifying the bond of their visitors with the living earth.

Open 365 days of the year, the Milwaukee Zoo is the perfect place to spend a day with your friends and family! They house animals from all over the world such as the Alaskan Brown Bear and the African Elephant! From fish in the sea, birth in the sky, to monkeys in the trees, you can see and experience it all at the Milwaukee Zoo! There are animal encounters where guests can feed the giraffes and mouse deer, or you can take photos with the seals and sea lions! There are plenty of concession areas on the zoo site in case you hear a growling that doesn’t come from a big cat exhibit. Grab a pizza from the Flamingo Café or end your zoo visit with a scoop of ice cream from the Dairy Store.
